Sports

Students are provided with many opportunities to participate and excel in sporting activities through:

  • participation in local sports competitions
  • inter-school sports events
  • school wide sports events
  • expert coaching programmes offered as part of our physical education programme

School sports teams are entered in New Plymouth hockey, touch, cricket, mini-ball, basketball and netball competitions and are generally coached by parent and staff volunteers. Students playing rugby and soccer are catered for by outside clubs. Additional opportunities arise throughout the year for students to compete in other events such as surfing and golf, police challenge and road relays.

We look to support the inclusion of all sports and will endeavour to cater for all students sporting preferences.

During the winter months, our Year 5-8 students participate in an inter-school competition, playing netball, soccer and rugby against other New Plymouth schools. Other inter-school events include cross-country running and swimming.

School wide sports events are usually run as house group competitions and all students are expected to participate in the annual biathlon/triathlon, swimming sports, cross-country, athletics and tabloids competitions.
